Committees

One of the best ways to make the most of your TLC membership is through your involvement in the organization. The TLC is always working on different events, projects, and programs for our membership. Check out these committees and see if there is a way you would like to get involved. 

TOURISM AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIP DINNER – The Annual Tourism Awards and Scholarship Dinner takes place during the 1st quarter of our calendar year.  The committee is most active during the months of November – March.  The committee oversees the details of the dinner, including timeline, dinner menu, awards presentation and program, flow of the event, etc. This committee will also actively solicit, gather, and organize raffle and auction items for the Annual Dinner. Volunteers are needed to assist with the set-up during the week of the event, as well as working shifts at the event.  

AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS – This committee will meet throughout the year to oversee the scholarship fund, however it will be the most active during the months of November – March.  The committee reviews nominations and applications, conducts interviews and makes selections for the scholarships and Service Star and Leader Awards presented at the TLC Annual Dinner.

CONCIERGE COUNCIL – The Concierge Council is active year around and addresses issues specific to the concierge industry. The council also makes recommendations for training events specific to the concierge membership of the TLC. Committee meetings are held on an as needed basis, depending on the needs of the concierge industry members.

GOLF TOURNAMENT – The TLC golf tournament takes place in the Spring (March-May) each year.  The planning committee is the most active during the months of January - May.  The committee actively seeks sponsorships, prizes, teams and food/beverage (pre-tournament lunch, post-tournament reception and for the course during play) for the tournament.  Volunteers are needed to assist with the set-up during the week of the tournament, as well as working shifts at the tournament.

LODGING  – The Lodging Council is active year round and addresses issues specific to the lodging industry. The council also makes recommendations for training events specific to the lodging membership of the TLC. Committee meetings are held on an as needed basis, depending on the needs of the lodging industry members. 

MEMBERSHIP – This committee is active year-round and assists TLC staff with recruiting new members and supporting existing members.  The committee strives to develop new ideas for member involvement and benefits for members.  Volunteering at member luncheons and member socials is a function of this committee.  This committee meets monthly (usually the third Tuesday of the month in the afternoon.)

PROGRAMS – The TLC hosts membership luncheons, seminars and other informational/educational events throughout the year.  The goal of this committee is to develop/select educational, creative and relevant speakers/instructors for these programs.  Committee meetings are usually held quarterly in the TLC office.

RESTAURANT COUNCIL – The Restaurant Council is active year round and addresses issues specific to the food service industry.  The council also makes recommendations for training events specific to the food and beverage membership of the TLC.  Committee meetings are held on an as needed basis, depending on the needs of the F&B industry members.

TOURS AND ATTRACTIONS COUNCIL – The Tours & Attractions Council is active year round and addresses issues specific to the tours and attractions industry.  The council also makes recommendations for training events specific to the tours and attractions membership of the TLC.  Committee meetings are held on an as needed basis, depending on the needs of the tours & attractions industry members.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT – Workforce development, including job fairs, jobsinsavannah.com oversight, building partnerships and relationships with schools and creating/maintaining programs to assist in further developing Savannah’s hospitality workforce, remains a top priority for the TLC.
